Is the market getting crazy?

I posted this on a real estate forum and thought I would re-post it here. It's supply and demand! Multiple offers have been common all year. The problem with the market today (for buyers) is that inventory levels are generally low compared to the current demand. This is happening for 2 major reasons (these are just two reasons out of many) 1. The foreclosure moratorium This was put in place around thanksgiving of last year for Fannie and Freddie homes but most major banks agreed to do the same through the election and any subsequent housing policies from the new administration.  The moratorium has ended for some banks and will end for other banks at the end of April but Fannie and Freddie may extend the moratorium. This last quarter had a record amount of foreclosures, but these houses have not hit the market and will probably not hit the market for a few more months as they are just beginning the eviction process in a lot of cases. 2.
